Islendingadagurinn is excited to announce a partnership with Magnús Ver Magnússon, 4x World Strongest Man and legendary Icelander, to host the MVM Classic Gimli, a world-class strongman event showcasing traditional Icelandic feats of strength.
The competition will take place through a series of events during the annual Icelandic Festival in Gimli, Manitoba, held from July 29th to August 1st in 2022. Professional Strongman athletes from around the world will compete using natural elements such as stones, trees and Icelandic/Viking inspired implements.
“This alignment is excellent for both of our organizations and continues to expand the Canada/Iceland connection and tradition,” says Magnússon.
The MVM Classic Gimli winner will receive an invitation to participate in the MVM Classic Iceland, to be held in November 2022. The MVM Classic Iceland is one of few events that qualifies the winner for a spot in the World’s Strongest Man Competition.
The 133rd Islendingadagurinn takes places Friday, July 29th to Monday, August 1st, 2022 In Gimli, Manitoba.
