Lóa
Lóa is a vocal jazz trio known for their warm harmonies, expressive interpretations, and elegant blend of jazz and contemporary influences. Inspired by the Iceland word for “golder plover”, a bird symbolizing hope and the arrival of spring, Lóa brings a fresh and captivating sound to the stage. The trio, Ada, Elin and Liuba, is delighted to perform at the Rooftop Concert during Íslendingadagurinn, celebrating music, culture, and community through an evening of jazz-infused vocals and storytelling.
Todd Martin Trio
This group is comprised of three of Winnipeg’s finest musicians, Todd Martin on harmonica and vocals, Kim Lopez on keyboard, and Ava Glendinning on guitar.
This will be their debut performance as an ensemble. Individually, they have performed on Winnipeg’s biggest stages and festivals, including The Burton Cummings Theatre, The Centennial Concert Hall, The Winnipeg Jazz Festival, McPhillips Casino, Regent Casino, and The Winnipeg Folk Festival.
This program will include a performance of the Grammy nominated album, Americana, recorded by Bill Frisnell, Gregoire Maret, and Romain Collin. This beautiful, gentle music, conveys the wide open expanse of rural places, and people.
Also included on the program will be jazz standards, such as Moon River, and music of Icelandic Jazz musicians, Sunna Gunnlaugs, and ASA trio. This is sure to be a wonderful evening of music atop Johnson Hall.
