*Join us for the opening of Viking Park on Saturday, August 5 from noon to 2:00 PM*

Viking Park offers an authentic and magical experience surrounding the Viking Statue.Throughout the park you will discover many characters from Norse mythology, including elves, trolls (if you look hard enough) and Odin’s ravens, Huginn (thought) and Muninn (mind). Odin sent his ravens out in the morning to travel the breadth and depth of the world and report back to him what had transpired by dinner time. This was why Odin was sometimes known as the “Raven-God” (hrafnaguð).

Odin is also known as the "One-Eyed" God because he sacrificed an eye to gain the knowledge and magic of the runes. Throughout Viking Park there are rune puzzles carved on pathway stones.

Click here to download the rune key that corresponds to the English alphabet, or find it on the Culture and History Wall in Viking Park.

You don’t have to sacrifice an eye to solve the puzzles, but if you are among the first five people to solve the Mystery of the Runes contest you can win merchandise from the Icelandic Festival Gift Shop.

Entries accepted at the Icelandic Festival Office or via email at info@icelandicfestival.com. The draw will be held at the end of August. Click here to download the questions and riddles, rune key and words translated to Runic
