The Icelandic Festival Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Kristine Sigurdson will join the Icelandic Festival of Manitoba as our Executive Director.
Kristine has a wealth of experience working in festival and event management and in tourism marketing. Previously, Kristine served as the Executive Director of the Gimli Film Festival during its’ formative years from 2003-2010. A local Gimli resident and former business owner of Sandstone Gift Essentials; she returned to Gimli two years ago after spending a few years in the two major wine areas of Canada, studying Wine Business Management and working in the wine tourism industry.
She is active in the business community and is a Past President of the Gimli Chamber of Commerce. Kristine’s Icelandic heritage and culture is very important to her. She has visited Iceland several times for personal and trade purposes and also studied Icelandic literature and language. Kristine joins us at an exciting time as we plan the execution of our 128th Festival in our 85th year in our host community of Gimli.
Although our fundraising is on-going we will celebrate the grand opening of Viking Park and honour all of our generous Viking Park Donors. This is our second festival with our new branding and we look forward to continued and renewed friendships and partnerships with communities in Manitoba, North America and Iceland as we celebrate our Icelandic heritage.
