The Icelandic Festival of Manitoba congratulates current Director and Past President – Jenna Boholij, on receiving the 2022 Volunteer of the Year award from Travel Manitoba, Tourism Winnipeg and Economic Development Winnipeg at the Tourism Awards Winnipeg | Manitoba on Thursday, October 19th, 2023.
Jenna has never missed attending an Icelandic Festival in her lifetime and has volunteered with the festival for over twenty years, following in the footsteps of many of her family members. She began volunteering as Parade Chair and is responsible for new events and initiatives such as Get Dinged, Odin’s Festival Passes and the resurgence of an outdoor beer gardens.
She spear-headed a festival re-brand in time to celebrate the 125th Islendingadagurinn and is responsible for the development and maintenance of the festival marketing, merchandise, social media, communications, sponsorships and partnerships.
During her presidency Jenna led the organization through the uncertain times of the COVID-19 pandemic, conceptualizing a virtual and hybrid festival with videos and online events that allowed new and returning festival-goers to continue to enjoy a cherished tradition.
Jenna’s creativity, commitment and dedication to the festival and the organization will have a lasting impact on one of Manitoba’s most amazing cultural experiences and signature events. Her contributions are invaluable.
On behalf of the Board of Directors and the Icelandic Festival of Manitoba members, congratulations Jenna. We are so fortunate to have you as part of our team!
